Inside Art Collector Eugenio López’s Modernist Dream Home

The stunning Mexico City home of prominent Mexican art collector and philanthropist Eugenio López Alonso is a masterpiece in itself, brimming with museum-worthy art and architectural marvels.

As an influential figure in the international art scene and heir to the Jumex fruit juice fortune, López has spent decades amassing one of Latin America’s most extensive private art collections.

The 16,000-square-foot modernist house in upscale Lomas de Chapultepec neighborhood was originally built in the 1970s. The residence serves as a showcase for López’s collection of modern and contemporary art, which includes works by renowned artists such as Richard Serra, Rudolf Stingel, Jeff Koons, Ellsworth Kelly and Damien Hirst.

Collaborating with Madrid-based interior designer Luis Bustamante, López transformed the home into a haven where art and architecture intertwine seamlessly.

The ground floor features a breathtaking double-height library housing thousands of art books and exhibition catalogues.

Throughout the residence, warm oak accents create an inviting atmosphere, complementing the diverse array of artwork on display.
