Alchemy Architects took on the project of renovating the home and office of their clients Will Hopkins and Mary K. Baumann. Located in the Whitney Lofts Building (formerly known as Standard Mill) in Minneapolis, Minnesota on the Mississippi Riverfront, the loft was previously a hotel kitchen as well as the turbine room within the renovated Standard Mill. The goal was to combine the designers’ white-page palette for the space with a sense of light by creating visual pathways between grand columns.
Located in a charming 19th century building in Barcelona, Spain, this renovated apartment has a hip modern look that offers pleasant surprises. Area rugs serve as elements that divide the space. Nice touches such as a bookworm shelf and book shelves under the staircase are functional and unique.

The existing barrel vaulted space was maintained while adding a master bedroom and library balcony. The library balcony is suspended under the east end of the barrel vault, and a skylight in the floor reveals the master bedroom below.

Exposed beams and stone walls form the central theme of the apartment. The L-shaped open kitchen provides an open and modern feel.
