Hotel Indigo Shanghai – A Fusion Of Ancient And Modern

The Hotel Indigo Shanghai on the Bund in China features elegant and eclectic interior design by Hirsch Bedner Associates. Dramatic Cliffside House In Dover Heights

Holman House, designed by Durbach Block Jaggers Architects, sits on a dramatic 70-meter (230 feet) high cliff in Dover Heights, in the eastern suburb of Sydney, Australia. The living and dinning areas cantilever out over the ocean, providing dramatic views of the coastline and the ocean. The lower floor base is built from rough stone walls forming an extension of the cliff below.

Monte Carlo Desk By Viscount David Linley

Inspired by the Monte Carlo Casino, this architectural desk created by Viscount David Linley is an exquisite piece of furniture priced at about $100,000. Viscount Linley, the bespoke cabinetmaker who is a nephew of Queen Elizabeth II, created this desk using American walnut with inlays of santos rosewood and sycamore. Covering the surface is a dark red leather. The façade of the architectural box bears detailing representing the windows, columns and galleries of the casino. Linley has been known for the intricacy and precision of fine craftsmanship which he brings to all his furniture. The Monte Carlo Desk pays tribute to an iconic building, and is a collectable work of art in its own right.

Metropolitan Home Design 100: The Last Word On Modern Interiors

For 20 years Metropolitan Home magazine — devoted exclusively to modernism — published their special annual issue called the Design 100, celebrating the best in residential design and architecture. The magazine ceased publication with its December 2009 issue, but the legacy lives on in this book, authored by Michael Lassell, Features Director of the magazine. Metropolitan Home Design 100 features some of the best homes and best rooms ever to have appeared in the magazine. From photos of Gianni Versace’s Miami beach house to renovated houses by Frank Lloyd Wright, and rooms by designers such as Jonathan Adler and Todd Oldham, the book is a beautiful tribute to modern interior design.

Fennell Residence is a floating house in Portland, Oregon designed by architect Robert Harvey Oshatz.
