JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa on the edge of Khem Beach on the island of Phu Quoc, Vietnam is a fictional 19th-century French university reimagined as an eclectic luxury getaway hotel.
Also known as Lamarck University, the resort was designed by renowned architect Bill Bensley. “The hotel’s design was developed around the concept of a mythical academy of learning, honouring French naturalist Jean-Baptise Lamarck who laid the groundwork for Darwin’s theory of evolution,” said Marriott.
